Why you’ll need the Golf Towel Need for?

I’d bet that most golfers wouldn’t tell you that USGA rules allow golf players to have a towel or handkerchief but they’d tell ya they wouldn’t want to play without one. Even if the clubs and ball are the main equipment of the show but a humble towel has found an irreplaceable position in the game.

Cleaning Clubs

One big purpose of carrying around a golf towel is to clean your clubs. But you can do that with just you golf brush or the head of the golf tee. But nothing ever does a better job at this than a damp towel. And you don’t want to take chance cause having a bit of caked dirt on your club might just ruin your shot. Besides soft and mushy towels are more efficient in getting into those dimples and groves.

Keeping Yourself and the Clubs Dry

Well on a hot summer day you’d be getting sweaty all the time. So, you’ll need something to clean yourself up with nearby.

Besides if your playing on a course that’s wet, you’d need to keep on drying your ball. And you’d have to do the same your clubs in between shots so that it doesn’t start to get all rusty.

Some of the Best Golf Towels

Here’s some golf towel that far better than most other towels out there. I’ve gone through every aspect of the towel for each of them and put forth the pros and cons of each. Now you can choose for yourself.

best golf towel

Custom Towel!!

Everything that you’ll like about it

It’s a 16 by a 25-inch trifold towel. So, you won’t feel that it’s all that big while you’re carrying it around. And always you’ll get that metal grommet and carabiner to hook it on to your belt or the golf bag. This way it really convenient to carry it around, more helpful than you’d imagine.

It’s a hundred percent cotton. Actually, the fabric’s terry cloth. This premium fabric is found in spa towels and robes. That’s how good it really is. Sao, you won’t have to be worrying about any streaks even if you’re cleaning your glasses for instance.

The stitching might not be Kevlar but it’s way stronger and sturdier than necessary. There are about 8000 stitches and you can get more thousands of stitches buy paying up just a few cents.

Another very important thing about this one is that it’s one of those custom towels. You can put your name on it or anything that you’d like. A perfect gift for your golfer friend.

Things that are not so great about it

Some buyers have complained about the carabiner. It’s not good enough compared with what you get from other golf towels. Moreover, the color of the towel isn’t all that vibrant.

Snap-on buttons to attach it to places

Everything that you’ll like about it

Measuring up to 16 inches by 24 inches these microfiber towels have a snap-on buttons on both ends. These snap-on buttons make a huge difference, you can snap it on anywhere, be it your bag, our armor even your pushcart. You can even attach all three of them together using this button.

If you’ve seen it on Amazon you already know that this towel or rather set of towel comes in a pack of 3, in three different colors. Colors are very much cliché, white, black and grey despite that these are very suitable colors for a towel.

Three different colors make it easy for you to distinguish which one of ‘em you’re using for what. Yeah, I’ve had this problem a couple of times. In the middle of the game, I got confused which one of ‘em um using for the club and which one for my hands.

Enough about the color nonsense, how good of a towel is this one? The fabrics good enough to be absorbing 400 grams of water per square meter of the fabric. That translates to 99 grams of water can be absorbed by each towel. It’ll make your hands and clubs dry really quickly.

But at the end of the day, is it all that comfy? The fabric’s made out of microfiber, that alone says a lot. It’s not mushy but it’s soft and quite an absorbent towel.

Things that are not so great about it

It’s 16 inches, that’s not long enough for a lot of players out there.

And another point to be noted that I’ve seen a couple of folks talk complain about is the buttons. They tend to come off in some of the towels.

3. Callaway Golf 2018 Uptown Towel

Thick and Long

Everything that you’ll like about it

Unlike the last one, this one is quite mushy that makes it all the comfier. You’ll find this one has a lot of different colors like pink, blue, grey and the obvious black.

Something that’s catchy about this is the carabiner that comes with the hook-on top of the towel. That’s gonna be really helpful and you know it. You can attach it your bag, push cart and so on.

This one is a bit smaller than the last one though. It’s 16 inches by 21 inches. But that’s adequate enough to clean up your clubs since it’s made up of microfiber.

Things that are not so great about it

It’s been complained by a couple of folks that the loop for the carabiner isn’t all that strong. Well, that beats all the good about having the carabiner if the loop’s rendered useless.

Soft, Comfy and Durable

Everything that you’ll like about it

A few drops of textile engineering gave the soft microfiber about 3x moisture wicking and absorbent nature. Also boosted durability to 5x then your average microfiber golf or any golf towel for the matter.

The size of the towel is pretty average, 15 inches by 24 inches. That’s sufficient to be taking care of your golf activities.

But the thing that’s most handy about this one is it’s trifold and the carabiner. The carabiner is kept attached to the ring hook, that pretty much guarantees the fact that the carabiner won’t be coming off by tearing the towel.
The trifold…… that’s a lifesaver, umm well at least a lot of space saver. It keeps the towel folded up and compact. This makes it way easier to carry it around on your belt using that carabiner that I just talked about.

Another great attribute that you’ll notice just from the looks of the towel is its uneven surface. The uneven surface of the towel makes it easier to wipe off the dirt from those groves of the club and golf ball dimples.

If you’re worried about the towel getting all smelly, then you’ll be glad to know that this one. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t have to wash it forever. But you can go without washing it for long enough though.

Do you hate having lint? Bet you do. But this one made as to prevent that from ever happening. That ensures you won’t be having any scratches even if you’re wiping your glasses with this one.

Keeps everything clean and smooth

Everything that you’ll like about it

It’s 16 inches by a 16-inch towel, a square one. You fold it up and keep it It’s a perfect piece of cloth to keep your golf balls, clubs and eyewear clean and unstained. It’s compact and miniature size makes it really easy to carry around, be it in your pocket or your bag.

The Green Towel Microfiber comes in a set of 3. And you can find it in 10 different colors, enough variants for those who are a bit picky about colors.

Yeah, like most another golf towel this too comes with a metal ring to fit a carabiner. I don’t think I’ll have to blabber about how handy and necessary it is to have a carabiner with your golf towel.

It is indeed super absorbent and lightweight. There’s this plush yarn that makes that does the job of creating uneven surfaces. The plush yarns keep the towel soft too so that you don’t get streaks on your club or anything.

Things that are not so great about it

Yeah, being just about 16 inches by 16 inches it might be a little too small for many folks. But that’s why it was designed to keep it small. But then again, a few folks were complaining about it. Many are used to having even larger towels for golf.

Custom towel to put your designs on

Everything that you’ll like about it

You’ll find it on Amazon with various designs. That’s because the manufacturer’s allowing you to choose your very own design.

These 16 inches by 26 inches mushy and soft golf towel makes itself a great choice for being a gift to a friend. Especially because you got the choice of customizing it. And

Oh! It’s made outta Terry velour. What’s so special about this you ask? This fabric is made from natural cotton fiber. The fibers are either shaved or split. This prevents streaks on your club or glasses. Besides, that velvety smoothness gives a luxurious vibe.

Things that are not so great about it

It’s great to have something custom printing on your towel but not if it starts to fade away after a while. At least that’s what has been complained by some of the buyers.

8. Under Armour Golf Towel

Serves dual-purpose, you can keep your hands and the club dry.

Everything that you’ll like about it

It’s a 20 inch by 20-inch towel, it’s a medium-sized towel, not too big nor too small. Just the perfect size to carry around with yourself. Speaking about carrying it around, you’ll have a ring and a carabiner with the towel. That makes life a lot easier.

The fabrics engineered to dry itself up real quick. This hinders moistures from building up on the towel. On top of all these this, the towel also has that anti-odor property. So, there’s pretty much no chance of it starting to smell. You’ll always have a feeling that it’s fresh and this way the towel itself will last longer.

The towel’s trifold that makes it compact and easy to carry in your pocket or backpack.

Things that are not so great about it

The grommet i.e. the ring on the towel is too big. It’s in here in the cons because having too big a grommet prevents the towel from fully opening or stretched.

Award-winning PGA merch

Everything that you’ll like about it

It’s 24 inches by 14 inches size sets it apart from many towels out there in the market. This makes the towel long and pocket sized.

The pocket design on the towel is another aspect that showcases its high -end quality. There’s two separate fabric that’s sewn together. And that creates a pocket. Well, the towel’s sewn from two different sides and the other two are kept open. This way you can use the inside to clean your golf balls and clubs and the outside for your hands.

What’s most unique about this towel is that it can be kept wet on the inside while it’s dry outside. This makes it amazingly useful and handy. This is found more helpful on rainy days because then the inside will remain dry if the insides are completely wet.

The outsides of the towels a 100% cotton but the insides 100% bamboo terry, a kind of polyester. You’ll see that the there’s nylon loop that hosts the carabiner instead of having any grommet.

Things that are not so great about it

The loop for holding the towel isn’t all that sturdy. And a lot of folks are not being happy with the absorbance of the towel.

With a matching greenside towel

Everything that you’ll like about it

The quality, usefulness, and efficiency far exceed what any pro would demand in his golf towel. Since they wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of going all the way to their bag to clean their club or ball every time so it packs a greenside towel with it too.

We’ve all seen those towels that do more harm than it does any good by leaving all those streaks and scratches. But this one’s soft, it delicate enough to clean all those dirt and debris on plastic, chrome, golf ball and clubs without leaving behind any scratch.

On top of all these, there’s this waffle pattern that greatly helps to wipe off the dirt. And we all hate lint, it completely destroys the looks and freshness of a towel and can do starts to leave scratches. But with this one, you won’t have to be thinking about all that. It’ll stay absolutely lint free.

This towel is the first one on the list that is machine washable. But you just gotta keep in mind that you’ll obviously have to be using cold water and only just mild detergent. Otherwise, the towel will be done for good.

The pro tour sized golf towel in the set is sized 17 inches by 40 inches. Apart from the size of it, what you’d like the most is the center slit, that for the towel to fit over club heads. The slit’s about 8 inches. Then there’s the greenside one that sized 8 inches by 152 inches, just like a handkerchief so you can carry it around in your pocket.

It’s very absorbent. It holds about 400% of its own weight in water.

Things that are not so great about it

There’s just one little issue despite what it looks like on the picture, in person the colors aren’t all that vibrant.

11. Handy Picks Microfiber Golf Towel

Set of 3

Everything that you’ll like about it

Being only 16 inches by 16 inches this towel is super convenient to carry around. Even more so since the towel comes with a grommet and a carabiner. This way you can hook it up to your belt or the golf bag.

The soft,  mushy, uneven microfiber is really good at getting into the dimples of the golf ball and clubs. It leaves behind no streaks on whatever you’re cleaning even if it’s glass wear. There’s the anti-microbial feature that keeps the towel fresh even after a long day of use. It keeps the bad odor away too.

You’ll see that there is a hook and loop fastener. It’s pretty dang long, about 10 inches. This helps to keep your towel folded up moreover you’ll get to carry stiffs in that fold like golf ball marker, divot repair tool, golf brush and all that.

Things that are not so great about it

There’s not much that buyers have complained about it. But there’s just one little thing it does kinds look it’s cheap. Otherwise, it’s all good.

Things that’s to be considered while buying

Here I’ll give a generalized algorithm that when followed you can land with the best golf towel for yourself. There’s isn’t all that much that you’ve to keep in mind, but there are indeed stuffs to be kept in mind otherwise you’ll be the one regretting.

Fabric

Hands down cotton are the best fabric for golf towels. It’s the most absorbent fabric, ain’t nobody gonna deny that. Ones that are 100% percent cotton is the best.

Maybe you’ll see a few towels that say terry cloth or terry velour. These are two of the most premium cotton fabric. They’re mushy and uneven absolutely perfect to get inside those groves and dimples.

Then there’s the microfiber too. This one’s also on par with cotton. They can absorb a hell lot of water. Not less than cotton fabric in any way too.

Uneven

But what’s most important is that you absolutely have to get those with uneven surfaces. Otherwise, you’ll have a tough time cleaning that dirt and debris in the dimples and dents. You’ll see some have waffle patterns, plush yarns, etc. Those are the ones to get.

Anti-Microbial

The best of any form of garments starting from gloves to towels are anti-microbial. These are constantly soaking up not so clean liquids and obviously dirt. And wet dirt is the paradise for microbes. So, it is essential that you have one with the anti-microbial feature.

Anti-Odor

Just for the same reasons as I just mentioned in the previous topic. Towel starts to smell. You wouldn’t want to have a smelly towel with you on the golf course. That’s where these anti-odor towels come in. They keep your towels fresh.

Sizes

Golf towels come in different shapes and sizes. One thing common, it’s they’re almost always about 16 inches in width. And in length, they vary from 16 to about 25 inches in length.

The logic behind the choice is obvious, the smaller ones are convenient to carry around and the larger ones are easy to clean things with.

Tri-fold

It’s not necessary that you get one that’s trifold. But these sorta towels are pretty convenient. They stay folded up and take up space smaller than they are.

Hook and Loop fastener

A few of the golf towels have a hook and loop fastener. This way you can keep your towel rolled up tightly. Just like you’d do with an umbrella.

Grommet and Carabiner

The grommet is a metallic ring fitted on to the towel by making a hole in it. Then there’s the carabiner in the hole.

It helps a lot to carry the towel around by hooking it to your towel or the golf bag.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s a Grommet?

Ans: It’s that metal ring that on the towel which houses the hook i.e. the carabiner.

Q: Does the Grommet Start to Rust?

Ans: Sometimes it does, most of the time it doesn’t. It all comes down to the how good of a towel you’re getting.

Q: Does golf towels have to have an uneven surface?

Ans: Yeah, it does. Otherwise, the towels won’t be doing good enough job at cleaning the clubs.

Conclusions

Buying yourself a golf towel might not be big a deal. But you’re gonna be spending some money on this, so don’t make yourself regret by not getting yourself the best one.

There are only a few things like fabric, anti-microbial, and anti-odor and grommet, carabiner, etc. But with all these in mind, you can indeed find the best golf towel.
