How to Use TecTecTec Golf Rangefinder 500s?

Updated on June 8, 2021 by Michael Sparks Leave a Comment

A golf rangefinder is one of the necessary things if you want to get good at the game. Although it is not permitted to use in a competitive environment it is a good device for practice. Using the rangefinder is very easy and here you will know how to use the TecTecTec rangefinder.

Why Use a RangeFinder?

A rangefinder is very necessary to develop your golf skill. If you do not know or you are not sure how far the flag is, then the rangefinder will help you. That way you can choose the right club for your shot.

It is recommended to use the rangefinder on your every shot when practicing. That way you will gradually start to understand the range, distance, and which club to use without using the rangefinder. So it is a very handy device to have.

How Do I Use the Rangefinder?

Tec Tec Tec rangefinder has a few different modes that you can cycle through. The best way to learn how to use the rangefinder is to use them. But you do need to have a bit of prior knowledge about it or else you won’t be able to use the device properly.

Modes and Units

TecTecTec has a couple of different modes. Additionally, there are other units too if you do not want to use yards. There are mainly three modes which are the normal, scan, and pin mode. Besides these three, some TecTecTec devices have another mode which is called the slope mode.

Changing Modes

To change between the modes, you just have to press the mode button. It remains in the normal mode. To go to the scan mode you don’t need to press the mode button. You can just use the normal and scan mode without changing anything.

To go to the pin mode you just have to press the mode button once. A little flag icon will show up on the display. That means you are on the pin mode.

If your device has slope mode then while on the pin mode, just bring the lens forward by pulling the front. This will activate the slope. There you can see the normal distance as well as measurement counting the slope on the screen.

Changing Units

Other than that, you can also cycle through the units. To circle through the measurement units, you just have to press and hold the mode button. The unit remains the same even after you turn off your device. So you don’t have to change the unit over and over again.

Measuring Distance in Different Modes

Measuring the distance is very easy. First, turn on the rangefinder after putting the battery in. To turn it on simply press the power button once.

Measuring Distance in Different Modes

Measuring in Normal Mode

Now that the device is on, you can start measuring as many times as you want. To measure the distance, simply point to the element you want to measure the distance of.

Rotate the eyepiece to adjust the focus if you need. Then press the power button again to shoot and you are done. You should be able to see the distance count on the display.

Now if you want to measure again then just repeat the process. This is how you use it on normal mode to measure a single distance at a time. In scan mode, you can get multiple distances as you move the placement of your crosshair.

Measuring With Scan Mode

To use scan mode you don’t need to change the mode itself. You just have to press and hold the power button instead of just pressing it. To start, aim the focus the crosshair on the element you want to measure the distance of. Then hold the power button and don’t move the crosshair.

This will show the distance of that element. Now you can start moving the crosshair. Pause your crosshair on the next element that you want to measure the distance of. When you pause and do not move the crosshair, it will automatically take the distance measurement. When you are done release the power button.

The scan mode can be a good tool to have if you want to line up your shot in an area there are many obstacles around. You can easily check and plan out the shot with scan mode.

Measuring with Pin and Slope Mode

To measure with pin or slope mode you need to go to the pin mode first. To access the pin mode, press the mode button once and a flag icon will appear indicating you are in the pin mode.

Pin mode pins onto the flag as you hover your crosshair around it. So if you are having a hard time shooting the right distance on the flag, then pin mode will be a great help.

To measure with it, after activating the pin mode, press and hold the power button. Now pan over the flag and release the power button. If your device has haptic feedback, it will vibrate as soon as it locks on the flag. Releasing the power button will measure and show the distance on the display.

Slope mode works in the same way. You have to pull the lens to active the slope mode. As the device locks on the flag, it will give a two reading if it is in slope mode. One will be the normal distance and the other will be the distance counting the slope.
